Dear diary

It's 8.05 pm and Sean fell asleep (our bed is the best). No, no, not for the night, he's waking up every three or four hours to eat and he's a bit restless cause of the damn colic. We already started an intensive massage campaign against these pains + patience + of course love.

Days go by so fast and they lost their conventional definition, we no longer have tuesdays or saturdays... Perhaps you can live without this information but I succedeed to do my nails two days ago. While in train.

Today I could even work (how I missed it). Our baby wasn't bothered at all by Ophelia (for those of you who walked in late, I'm talking about our sewing machine).

Getting back to Sean, you should know we have plenty of things to do: besides eating (like there's no tomorrow), being diapered and dressed in pastels, we also walk along the coast, we dance with dad, take baths and almost spa treatments + massages. Oh, the good life!

I watch his sleep. In this crazy crazy world, through fixations and illusions he is our chance to stop and shout that miracles do exist!

It's almost 9 pm and I'm wondering what to do first (this rush is becoming a habit). Should I shower? Prepare dinner? Steal an hour's sleep? Write to friends?...

Marco sleeps next to me. He's got chores under his pillow, too. And everything revolves around the little man who sleeps peacefully trying out his first smiles...

It's 9.10 pm. (yawn)... Sleep well!

Handcrafted ballet tote

Rosário and I met at the handmade fair 2 weeks ago in Lisbon. She had a special order for kittns: a tote bag for her 6 year old daughter.

The best part is it wouldn't be just another cute tote bag, but the little princess will carry... her ballet outfit in it! I did nine years of dancing myself so I got thrilled creating it (gosh, I'm so happy as if the tutu inside were mine :-)

Her favorite colors are yellow + turquoise so I tried to use the last one as much as I could, even on the inside. The bag is entirely handmade, starting from sketch scratch.

I hope she will have tons of fun dancing and the bag will make a lovely memory to hold after years...

Hope you enjoy it too!

Unique handmade bags

Here they are, so fresh so clean :-)

Finally, the brand new goodies we have been preparing for you: a small but precious range of entirely handmade tote bags (or how kittns like to call them chillin' bags).

They are mainly made of cotton canvas + cotton hand painted/hand sewn bits + they are double sided but light, perfect for carrying agendas, magazines, plush toys, the cool skirt you just bought and even dreams.

Each piece is one of a kind declaring and spreading important messages to the world. We created with all our hearts.

They will be soon available for sale in our online superstars boutique, but you can always request details + order at cristina@kittn.net

So which one speaks to you?

Be the change you wish to see in the world
Fairytales are true: they tell us dragons can be defeated
If you can dream it, you can do it
When you judge others you don't define them, you define yourself
Today is a gift, that's why we call it present
Trust yourself, you know more than you think you do

Shine.

My eyes and my smile shine when I see wondergirls wearing what I've created. I was so happy to see that at our meeting on Friday, the sight of it felt like replacing all the possible words in the world. Here is Oana with the No Regrets bag: I am so amazed and thankful for the shine I was talking about is also a reflection on her!

Of wizards and witches of Oz.

The story of the Ruby Shoes bag begins in a club in Lisbon where I met G. and E. at about 2 a.m. (just the perfect time for blurry vision, weird dances and "profound" conversation).
I spotted G. and in surprise and admiration for his fashion style I thought to myself whoa, such an interesting person. Of course, peculiar attracts peculiar, so he leaned over and whispered in the most serious voice "Is that you, Dorothy?", pointing out to my red shoes.
We connected just like that and a fall off a bar stool, an almost broken back and breakfast till 4 p.m. later we met again, coincidentally in the street.
We decided to go on the roof of a hotel and enjoy cocktails watching over Lisbon and talking the there's no light at the end of the tunnel, the tunnel and the light are right here right now talk. Stories of our lives brought us together without even knowing they relate. A feeling of I know what you have been through although I don't know you.
As this encounter started with a trip through Oz, I picked one of Dorothy's lines that I like so much, painted it on a bag and sent it in the hope that it will bring tons of smiles to G. and E., in the lovely ain't life a peach spirit. :-)

No regrets.

This design was inspired by Oana. She told me wonderful love stories about making up and breaking up, about the butterflies that bring happiness and the ones that take their tingling away leaving one confused or disappointed.
It can be a story for each one of us. We fall in love, we might fall out, we feel we can run to the top of the world and back when we see our lovers, then we may feel helplessly bound to the ground when they take their kisses away.

I fell in and out of love many times. And it was special and beautiful every time. I have no regrets, they don't work for me as I want to remember everything and not deny it. From the unstoppable waves of heat in the waiting of a phone call to the cold hands of saying goodbye, I am happy it all happened.
And you know what? In the matters of the heart, I have only learned to put my fears aside and just live. As for the rest of each story, we never seem to learn. And I think that's exactly the whole beauty of it.

Can't you see?

One of my recurrent dreams at night is being in a city that is always dark. There are no lights and I feel restless: I need the light to find something. Tonight you were in my dream. We were searching for each other in this city with no lights. I couldn't find you.

But I found a solution for the time being: I decided not to look for you.
If you are you and I am me then we need no light. There is no searching, there is no waiting.
So, what are we waiting for?

Hi, world!

It's raining in Bucharest... To me it's the perfect weather to work and dream and sip some tea, and then work again and dream some more. Becky is working and dreaming as well, better said working to make her dreams come true.

Life is not a fairytale doesn't take the magic away. Nor dreams and hopes. It just reminds you that everything's real if you want it to be, living here and now and making the best out of it.

Win-Win Contest

Thank you for entering the story contest. I liked all your versions and most of all I'm happy that all stories are bright and optimistic. Your ways of seeing through clouds really give me strength.
It was difficult to choose just one story, so I decided everybody should win as I already won your good vibe. The Swing t-shirt goes to Teodora. M., Elena, Denisa, Irina and Eva get a Play for Life shopper bag.

Win-win situations are real after all!

Not a fairy...

... but a real girl with real likes and dislikes, with real thoughts and plans. Not a fairytale, but real life with real ups and downs, with real struggle and achievement.

So I say life should not have a scenario as there are no acts to follow. It's not a recipe nor a story, it happens here and now. Maybe change begins with erasing 'must be' or 'must do'.

Designing...

... and reinventing, from sketch to wearable original fashion: let's see how it's done!

First I started to draw listening to inspiring 80s music: so here is the song. Then cut some pieces of waste fabric and transferred the designs on.

Applying textile paint and waiting for it to dry, my version of sister-friends comes aliiiive! I can't decide though how will I wear them: on tote bags or t-shirt? Maybe on both?

What's your suggestion? Come on, tell them sisters what you think while...

... we're wishing you a wonderful week!
